The man running the rail firm whose runaway train explosion devastated a small Canadian town is Ed Burkhardt, a longtime railroad industry figure who was also in charge when his Wisconsin Central railroad had a major 1996 derailment and resulting fire in Weyauwega, WI from exploding tanker cars that had carried propane.
There was major property damage and disruption in the community, but no fatalities.
